EXTERIOR RENDERINGS | Churches & houses of worship

ST. CLARE & ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCHES | Cathedrals

Gaining a congregation's support for a new church building can be a challenge, but since they'll fund the construction, getting buy-in from the earliest days is essential.

Designed by Franck & Lohsen Architects, one of the most renowned classical architecture firms in the US, these two cathedrals would be striking and timeless. The first, shown at left, is St. Clare Catholic Church on Daniel Island in South Carolina. An affluent and architecturally well-designed Southern community with strong neo-traditional elements, not just any design would meet success in this setting.

The second cathedral would be constructed in quite a different setting. Soaring up from the American prairie in the college town of Stillwater, Oklahoma, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church was designed to merge two local parishes into a single complex complete with a sanctuary accommodating 900 worshippers, a large parish hall, a chapel, and more. It would feature ceilings soaring 52 feet high, tall lancet windows, and Gothic vaults and arches.

We assisted in the presentation of the architects' plans by creating detailed exterior renderings to help parishioners visualize what their cathedral would be like when finished. In both cases, the cathedral designs were successful; the photo at right shows St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church after construction was completed in 2018.
